Fly fishing for roosterfish in Costa Rica can leave you humbled, thats for sure. In fact, most of the time it does just that! They like big flies that move super fast through the water, and since I do most of my fishing via kayak, getting the fly to move quick enough is often very difficult. This means you will have lots of fish chase the fly, but never really commit to it.
Here are a few picks of some recent fish that made us happy we had a 12wt in hand!

Shortly after I landed the rooster in the photo above, which happens to be my biggest one to date. My friend Micah landed the one in the photo below that was probably another 5lbs heavier and at least 3-4 inches longer than my personal record. Needless to say, we had an epic day kayak fishing in Costa Rica that day!
