The Redfish

When I first made the transition from chasing largemouth bass in rivers and ponds to chasing fish in the salt, redfish were my first target species. These fish grow to an enormous size and put up a battle like nothing else. I prefer to chase them with a 7-9wt fly rod. This allows me to throw some larger flies while providing enough backbone in the rod to allow me to fight a larger fish. Any time you can get out and chase reds on the flat is time well spent.
