“Backwater VLOG #36 features all the steps you need to tie the Avalon permit fly.” – Jesse Males
With everyone stuck indoors or with this corona deal going down, I figured now would be a good time to keep the fly tying videos raining down! Today I figured I would just show you guys how I like to tie the Avalon fly which is a well known pattern for permit but can also be used for bones and redfish as well. I like to tie mine a bit on the small side and fish them strictly with the tungsten beads on the bottom instead of adding any extra weight to the hook with dumbbell eyes or bead chain.

As you can see this fly is quite simple to tie. It is a slight variation from the original but still fishes just as hard but requires fewer steps to tie. If you have yet to give this fly a try be sure to whip some up and get them whet as soon as possible. You will be glad you did!
