craft fur minnow baitfish

“The craft fur baitfish fly has long been in the arsenal of both fresh and saltwater fly anglers. Now we just kicked it up a notch!” – Jesse Males

After coming off a long few weeks of trips and photo gigs in Wyoming and Utah, I am back in Costa Rica and ready to crank out a few episodes of the Backwater Vlog.

First fly off the vise is a great lil craft fur minnow baitfish pattern for both fresh and saltwater that can imitate a variety of baitfish and be tied in endless color combinations!

As you can see this fly is light and will land very soft on the water. This makes this variation of the craft fur minnow great for fishing laid up snook, seatrout, or even redfish on the flats or in the backwaters.

Tight lines,

I’m Capt. Jesse Males, an avid fly fishing, snook snatching, kayak paddling, tarpon slaying, mountain hiking, manatee swimming fool from Central Florida. Over the years fly fishing has had a huge impact on my life and particularly on how I view the world we spend our time in. I am currently the owner and operator of as well as our online fly shop, The lifestyle that is called fly fishing has taken me to some amazing destinations and has provided me with some amazing experiences in the wild. From chasing big salty critters in the Florida Keys, to roosters in Coast Rica, to small wild trout in the Carolinas, and all the way up to the high mountain cutthroat of Wyoming; I have been blessed to experience fly fishing at its finest.
