A few months back my guiding service 506 Outdoors was asked if we would be interested in assisting Colby Blackwell from Tandem Kayak Fishing during his trip kayak fishing for marlin in Costa Rica! Needless to say our answer was a strong YES!
After much planning we met up with Cobly down in Golfito and before we knew it we were heading out with Thumper Bluewater Expeditions to the seamounts where we would bait-up and put his angling skills to the test!
Below is a behind the scenes look at the trip and how we caught a marlin via kayak!
After Colby hooked up on the marlin it became clear that this was going to be one heck of a fight. In order to land the fish from the kayak without tiring it out too much was a challenge in itself!
With a lil luck and a lot of perseverance we were able to get the fish in, grab the bill, and cut the line. To our relief the fish swam off just fine and a hard round of applause and high fives went throughout the crew!
