Episode #17 of the Backwater Vlog takes us away from the fly tying desk and out on a 3 day, remote beach camping trip here in Costa Rica. Since this was largely and exploratory trip we put the fly rods down and explored some epic water with some new yozuri lures and tactics that we plan on using with our clients at www.506outdoors.com.

As you can see we had some epic fishing action off these beaches and rock ledges. Lots of Big Eye Trevally, Hawkfish, and small jack species were holding tight to the rocks and throwing the Yozuri Mag Minnow in there was just too much for them to resist.
We had action on roosterfish via kayak each morning super early before the sun had made its way above the cliffs. Anytime you can find a school of hungry roosterfish it is something to cherish. We were blessed to land some great fish on this trip using Yozuri Mag Minnows and the Yozuri Hydro Popper in both sizes.
Kayak fishing these remote beaches here in Costa Rica is often hit or miss and you truly never know what you are going to get. Weather, ocean patterns, tides, temperature…anything can make or break a trip out here when it comes to fishing. However, keeping high hopes and going out there in search of the adventure is what these types of trips are all about. When it all comes together, the memories made are priceless!
